(More customer reviews)I bought this light to provide a low-level (as low as possible) light source for my ashtray in my car at night.Since new cars these days don't come standard with an ashtray, the dealer "add on" ashtray is usually just a heavy-duty cup with a lid, and no light, that goes in your cup holder far far away from the dash or stereo lights.This light is perfect - provides a very very low light, and the bendable arm moves the light out of the way during the daytime hours.It has an on/off switch.
That said, if you're looking for a map light, I'd keep looking.This light is very very very dim, and my 40 year old eyes wouldn't be able to read by it.The neck of the light is also extremely short, so you will have to read your map within about 6" of your outlet - and mine is down by the aforementioned cupholders, so I don't see this being useful in my car for it's intended purpose.But it works fine for what I needed!
