(More customer reviews)This stereo head unit came in a car I bought. I do not know how long the stereo was used for prior to my purchase. I had it for about a year after the buy, and everything worked perfectly. I never noticed any problems except the cd/mp3 cd skipping whenever I hit a small bump and not even hard enough to to shake my keys on the key chain. I pretty much only used the auxiliary for my 1st gen ipod nano so the only time I noticed the skipping was when I forgot to charge the ipod or left it in the house. I never heard this much skipping in any deck I ever listened to (All pioneer.)
The rear right speaker does not work. Ever since I bought the car. It may have been wired incorrectly and I have tested several speakers to the wires in my door and they do not turn on. That may be from a loose wire or something.
One really CON I hate is the buttons not properly activating when I hit the button. For instance, If i press the OPEN button to eject my cd, it would actually hit the LOUD button, if I hit the loud button, it would change to FM, or AUX inputs. If I press the skip button, it would activate something else. That happens all the time, but clears up after I press the buttons a few times.
The sound quality is horrible. I have a set of fairly new pioneer 4-way speakers, and kenwwood 3-way speakers in the back and whenever I go past 30 volume, it gets distorted. Maybe my speakers but I doubt it. I had these speakers hooked up to an amp in another car and worked and sounded perfectly. The only good feature I like about this unit is the Aux input.
There are no EQ settings to change HIGH,LOW,MIDS. Only Bass and Treble are the two only settings you can use. It also has another 2 settings to set the volume of the left, right, front, rear but that's about it. It has the typical JAZZ,ROCK,and so on for the preset EQ, but nothing to change for my 4-way and 3-way speakers to get a better sound.
I have yet to take off the faceplate to this date.
I wouldn't even recommend this for a cd player over a stock cassette player since it skips to many times.
I'm planning on going to my roots and get a Pioneer DEH-5100ub or maybe a Alpine CDA-105
